Cyberhawk use drones and our SAAS based iHawk software to keep people out of danger and reduce the carbon footprint of our energy and large capital project clients. Our Solutions Architect will be responsible for defining and designing innovative solutions for our clients, talking with our clients, product and tech teams and sales teams to make sure our solutions are the best they can be.

We are flexible, hybrid working. This can be a mostly UK remote role gathering in the Edinburgh (Ratho) office every 3 months or so as a wider team. However, if you live locally to our Edinburgh office and wish to come in weekly or monthly you would be most welcome.

This would be a great role for someone with some architecture and client facing experience who enjoys autonomy and solving interesting problems.

What you will be doing

Our Solutions Architect is responsible for defining and collaborating on solutions that deliver scalable, innovative solutions for Cyberhawk’s clients.  You will be working with clients and stakeholders to make and guide decisions and translating business problems into technical solutions. This is a mixed and varied role that encompasses software architecture, some project management and working with our software engineering, product and sales teams.

Technical

  • Delivering secure and efficient cloud hosted solutions (primarily AWS). .
  • Developing, designing, scaling, and securing cloud native web applications working in partnership with our software engineers and the wider team.
  • Designing integrations between enterprise systems using RESTful APIs.
  • Creating and operating solutions based on SQL databases.
  • Creation of secure cloud networks using VPCs, security groups, WAFs, elastic load balancing, DNS etc.
  • Helping improve current business practice, processes and procedures.
  • Bringing ideas about proof of concepts, technology trials and proof of value activities.

Clients and internal teams

  • Working with clients and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into secure technical designs.
  • Working closely with the Products and Sales Teams to integrate customer requirements into solutions architecture.  
  • Translating technical concepts to the software engineering, delivery management and service management teams so they are understood by all.
  • Ideally helping mentor people and collaborating with internal delivery teams with differing degrees of maturity working to meet concurrent deliverables.
  • Using an agile driven mindset and helping us improve best practices.
  • Helping the bid writing team to write successful bids by authoring the technical aspects of bids and helping us understand which bids we might launch partnerships on.

Key Role Skills and Capability Requirements

Ideally you will have a some of the following experience:

  • Cloud / AWS solution architecture experience.
  • Proven experience selecting architecture that services clients’ needs with the balance of costs, capability and risk.
  • Experience designing integrations between enterprise systems using RESTful APIs
  • Experience in creating and operating solutions based on SQL databases.
  • Ideally skilled in the creation of secure cloud networks using VPCs, security groups, WAFs, elastic load balancing, DNS etc.
  • The ability to design technical solutions for a multi-cloud environment. Adopting open technologies where possible and using proprietary cloud-native services where there is a demonstrable benefit.  
  • Some knowledge of DevOps processes and Infrastructure as code fundamentals.
  • Experience successfully designing data-driven products and system integration projects.
  • Some experience in authoring customer-facing technical documentation for presales activities (RFPs, ITTs, RFQs) and project initiation.
  • Experience of turning business use case and requirements to technical solutions.
  • Experience in business processing mapping of data and analytics solutions.
  • Experience in designing data ingestion, processing, and delivery pipelines to efficiently gather data from field teams and external data stores into our cloud application environment.
  • Strong team collaboration and experience working with remote teams, stakeholders and customers.
