Travel. It's one of life's simple pleasures. But, ooof, planning it can feel like hard work. For the last 20 years we've been on a mission to empower every traveller with innovative tools, insights and experiences that help people get to where they're going, so they can spend more time out exploring the world, and less time anxiously bouncing around 25 browser tabs and endless spreadsheets. Our traveller-first approach drives everything we do and it's never been more important than it is today.
When we launched as a flight comparison site back in 2003, we changed the game by helping travellers feel smart, like they were in on a secret, that promise hasn't changed. And today, while we're a world leader in travel, with millions of people using our products every single day we know there's so much more we can be doing.
Being part of Skyscanner means joining a team hell bent on building the world's most innovative, and helpful travel experiences possible. We're hugely ambitious and believe we have the chance to genuinely challenge and disrupt the industry.
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our world class Product Design team. In this role, you will also work with a cross functional team of Researchers, Content Designers, Engineers and Product Managers to help design and prototype solutions for Skyscanner experiences across web and native app platforms.
This is a unique opportunity to help determine the future of Skyscanner’s travel marketplace. The product design team help define how travellers discover, explore and book their travel across an ever-expanding product range including flights, hotels, cars and more.
Our Designers are our Product Managers' secret weapon. A master tailor, sewing things together into one beautiful woven experience – without losing sight of why. Do you thrive best when helping to define the requirements as a team, not just translating them into designs? If so, this could be the place for you!
What you can expect as a product designer
- A supportive, trusting and transparent working environment.
- A place to look at things differently and challenge and offer solutions.
- We deliver quickly and we’re never afraid of trying new things. Sometimes it fails but we have a culture of forgiveness and experimentation. That’s what makes us fearless in taking bigger bolder steps. We’re in this together.
- An environment of continuous improvement where you optimise for impact and velocity.
What we are looking for
- Previous experience as a Product Designer ideally in a fast-paced digital product company or agency.
- Strong visual, interaction, UX design and prototyping background.
- Your portfolio has some best-in-class work and demonstrates your ability to shape broad conceptual ideas into valuable features for users and explain how and why. The ideal portfolio will detail clearly your contribution to the presented projects and will outline your thought process from the hypothesis stage throughout the final result as well as used methodologies.
- You nail the ABCs of Design, purpose, poise, panache
- You can output quick iterations and hi-fidelity prototypes and still have the ability to work in a changing environment. You know the pit falls of just incrementalism. Show us grand thinking, and small actions that had impact
- You are data aware, informed and driven, (We’re not talking about testing the colour blue!). Analytics don’t scare you, and you know which features can act as force multipliers on the business. You might not be a data scientist, but you long to harness data more to validate your designs
- You’re passionate and empathetic - you fall in love with problems, not solutions. You’re a doer, and a helper
You'll join a brilliantly diverse group from all corners of the world. After all, travel is about finding new perspectives and experiencing new people and cultures - and Skyscanner is strongest when our teams are both inclusive and diverse. We recognise and challenge everyday biases, remove obstacles to inclusion and ensure all our people can thrive and be themselves.
We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of our travellers and creating a culture where everyone feels like they belong, including people with disabilities. If you need any adjustments to the interview process because of a disability, please let our recruitment team know. Any information you share with our recruitment team will be used solely to allow us to ensure your candidate experience is inclusive and accessible based on your needs.
